Has anyone removed front passenger seat?

How easy was it and are there any wires, etc which need to be disconnected?

Thank you!

4 bolts. 2 in front and 2 at rear of seat. after you unbolt the seat lean it back and unplug the side airbag harness. Pull seat out n your done....
Make sure the car is not turned on while seat is removed and airbag is disconnected or you will trigger the SRS light to come on. You will have to have the dealer resetit for you if it does come on....

Thank you, guys

I don't have a Fit yet, but am thinking of possibly getting one. Removing the front passenger seat should improve the mileage a bit, because it must weigh a few pounds.

And, of course, the main reason is cause I want to sleep inside, and being 189 cm (6'3), there is no other way to stretch. Or is there?

I'd say it isn't THAT noticeable on gas mileage with front passenger seat removed.......it's just a few bolts and a couple plugs. My airbag light is on but I don't really mind since I had the same thing on my civic before, with my Momo corse installed.

I changed out my front driver seat for a bucket shell. Yup quite a bit lighter than the stock seat. But I don't think there's noticeable gas mileage difference...

If u REALLY need a car that has good mileage for sure. Maybe get a used Echo or Yaris.

Yaris and Fit list about the same MPG. Are the real worl numbers much different?

I'd rather not get Yaris, as it's quite ugly.

As for sleeping inside, perhaps, Toyota Matrix is a better idea, as the front passenger seat apparently folds flush with the back seats

Some ppl like me get about 370km/tank on their Fit, but some get well over 500km/tank.

I use Chevron 92octane myself and I rev-match, stuck in rush hour traffic quite often coz engines responds quicker & runs quieter with that. I do 4000rpm shift most of the time on my Fit sport w/5MT. While one of my friend who drives an Echo RS hatch gets 500km+ with regular gas easily(I think their tank is bigger tho).

Removing the front passenger seat for extra length is a good idea, but as far as saving weight and get better mpg, I doubt it. I removed both rear seats for more room, but I put them back in because I would have to make a platform for sleeping purposes anyway. Honda Fit back seats weigh a total of 68.4 lbs. 36.8 double seat + 31.6 single seat. I am assuming that the front weighs less or about the same.
