Carbon Fiber Cleaning?

Hey Guys,

I'm interested in buying a Carbon Fiber hood for my SSM Fit....i was just wondering if there are any special ways to clean the hood? Can i still go to the car wash with it without messing up the hood?

Thanks

I see that hood has the vents with a mesh....what happens when it rains? Will the water mess things up inside?

I wouldn't worry about the rain. I had a CF hood on my Evo without the vent in it and never had a problem living here in South Florida with the EVERY DAY SHOWERS AT 3 PM! I would advise you to get a UV clear coat on the hood. People may want to argue with me but if you are in a sunny area with lots of DIRECT HOT SUN...Without getting a clear coat with UV protectant in it before installing, you will have yellowing in the hood. Every piece I have owned was cleared from the factory and every piece yellowed within 8 months of installing unless I cleared it from another shop.

the hoods come with a shot of clear coat already on them, but wax the hood for extra protection
