Failed, Stained, Faded Seibon Carbon Hood Wrapped In Hexis Carbon Wrap
We recently had a local customer contact us looking for some help on a car he had just picked up. It was a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX. The previous owner had replaced the factory aluminum hood with a (heavier) SEIBON Carbon Fiber Hood.

The Texas sun had not been kind to it. The gel coat was in tough shape, it was faded, stained, and in rough shape. The new owner had tried to polish it. Hours later one small area was better, but still terrible looking. The fabric of the hood had faded from black to a dingy olive drab. No amount of polishing, or re-clear coating was going to save it, and it was frankly an eye sore. Having it repaired and painted body color would be more than the hood was worth (plus the new owner was not completely enamored by the look anyway). Finding a clean factory aluminum hood was not in the budget either.

We worked with the customer on a solution. We decided to wrap the bulk of the hood with our Hexis 3D Carbon Fiber Wrap. I know, ironic. The customer decided to paint the hood scoop and the two large finned vents. Was thinking of trying PlastiDip, but in the end used some paint he already had on hand.

Project finished. Hood wrapped in Hexis Carbon Fiber Wrap, and scoop and vents painted.
We also removed the metal mesh fog light grills and installed our GT Yellow Fog Light Protection Kit
The condition of the hood, the raised (integrated and not removable) vents, and the tarred / bonded in washer squirters did prove a challenge, the wrap is applied and the scoop and grills are painted. The customer was blown away at how much better the car looks!
So how much did this cost you ask? With everything used the materials were just over $100 and the project took several hours. Exact pricing for your vehicle will depend on how big your hood is. Short money spent to get a much better look in my book.
