Post Change dust/pollen filter (cabin air)

Greetings -- the owners manual does not show where the dust/pollen filter is located.

At 14,000 miles including 2 major cross country trip from Carolinas to SoCal, it is likely pretty funky.

Naturally contacting dealer on phone resulted in a "bring it in" =$$$= rather than any kind of helpful explanation. Arrogant @#$%&'s.

I searched around for obvious panels, removable covers etc. and was stumped. Bet it's somewhere I already checked but missed somehow.

THANKS...

I used to work as a honda tech and in the accords and odysseys they were always behind the glovebox. It will require removing some panels, but can usually be done in about 10 mins if you've done it before. I haven't checked with the Fit yet, but I think there are repair manuals you can look at on the web.

There are some tabs or slits that need to be broken in the glove box. The allows you to squeeze the glove box inward to let it drop down. The filter is behind that. FYI, don't leave receipts and paper in the glove box it will suck it up it's so close.

The maintenance minder tells you when it needs changing (change it when you change the engine air filter). I changed mine this week at 27K miles. It was still in pretty good condition and could have gone longer.

Question Where is cabin air filter - 2008 Fit?

My glove box does not have a glove box insert like the service manual at Index of / shows. Can someone provide instructions on finding and changing the filter on 2008 Fit? Really appreciate any pix and details on this. RLH

Hey folks, I'm still looking for some tech info on changing the cabin air filter on my 2008 Fit Sport. My glove box does not have the insert the older service manual shows. Can someone send or post the filter change instructions? Thanks.

It's behind the glove compartment. To Change it, open the glove box, sqeeze the sides of the glove box to allow the box to "come out" of its housing and dump it's contents onto the floorboard. You will se the white filter housing above the round fan housing. Release the retainers on the sides of this cover and pull it out, you will see the filter.

2007 cabine dust and pollen filter DIY

For these who are do not want to be ripped off by the dealer, here is procedure how to change pollen filter in 2007-08 Fit.
1. Empty the glove box;
2. Reach inside, locate the stopper flaps on each side
3. Using both hands simultaneously bend both of them toward the center of the box about an inch
4. Swing open the glove box.
5. Locate filter on the top of the fan housing
6. Press the tabs on the side and remove filter carrier http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3114/...72a416.jpg?v=0
7. Inspect or replace element

8. Install in reverse order.
No tools needed, takes 320 seconds. Why is the dealer charging $100 for that???

I use the maintience minder for oil changes but would not trust it for pollen and engine air filter intervals. It has every thing to do with how dusty the conditions are where the car is being driven. I was running up and down dirt roads for a week while on vacation and my pollen filter became so clogged that the AC completely stopped blowing. You'll probably just want to give it a visual inspection and then decide.

I got some of the TYC cabin air filters from Logical Source. The price is actually something like $7.05. If you order from them make sure they send you the correct filters, TYC 800093P, for the 07-08 Fits. They originally sent me six TYC 800039P's and I had to send them back (we have two Fits, hence the large order). They either had a dyslexic packer of they were upsidedown on the shelf! Nonetheless, they were a very good deal and they are incredibly easy to replace.

AC dust/pollen filter

The dealer recommended that I change the air filter and the A/C dust pollen filter as my car has 43000 km. So I agreed to this (at a cost of over $150).
However, my car does not have A/C. Did I really need to have the dust/pollen filter replaced or did I just get ripped off by the dealer?

Yea, you were ripped off. Changing the dust pollen filter is a piece of cake. It's behind the glove box on dash (you can find instructions for this lots of places). I buy equivalant air filters and dust pollen filters online. Air filters cost approx $9, and dust pollen filter about $13. Guess your dealer will make payroll this week.

Cabin/Pollen Filter Replacement - Logical Source

All set to purchase my cabin filter for my 2007 at Logical, cost was $7.10 w/shipping and handling $10.62. AutoZone ordered it and they are going to put it in (no charge) for $12.99. I went that route although I was able to figure out how to get access thru glovebox txs to pics. It is easy. I saved $38.00 compared to dealer .
