mtf viscosity?

hi. i am planning to change the mtf this week. i am not sure if there are any specific viscosity levels this car should run at.

also anyone recommend a good one? all i have in my mind is royal purple.

plus anyone using mobil 1 full synthetic engine oil? i am planning to switch to synthetic the same time.

I have been using Mobil 1 Syntec oil ever since I got my car. This was the first upgrade I made.....love it. I recommend using the 5W 20 blend HONDA recommends though!! IMAO Royal Purple is an overkill on this car. Hope this helps.

I have been running Mobil 1 motor oil since i hit 1,000 miles and i love it. I dont use any other motor oil. I still use the oe filter too. I swear by that stuff. haha. Also for the mtf i am running Gmsyncromesh. JDMChris turned me onto it a while back when i first bought the car and 2nd was a little sticky when it was cold. I have had no problems since and it seems to work better when the car isnt at full temp too.

The "new" Honda MTF is first-class! Good stuff...made a noticeable improvement over the factory fill.

(Actually I bought my MTF from the Acura dealer, it was cheaper than the Honda dealer up the street.)

Your owner's manual should say viscosity 5W-20. Good synthetic oils like Mobil 1 yield the best dyno numbers.

when i changed mine i just used the Honda MTF because it was stated in the manual to only use that and i was afraid of voiding my warranty if something happened to the transmission and they determined i used a brand other than honda.

but more importantly, a good friend told me, "frequency (of fluid changes) is much more important than the brand of the fluids." Makes sense to me and he knows cars very well haha.

Honda MTF (for the gearbox) is around 11.5cSt @ 100C. That makes it a equivalent to a slightly heavy 30wt. Hope that helps...

When you drain the factory fill, let me know what it smells like (any sulphur-like rotten egg smell) present or not and what color it is (red or amber). Thanks!

Mobil 1 is awesome synthetic oil...use it and you wont be sorry....Ext. Performance if you really want to go a little overboard
5-20 or 5-30 keep you under warranty, 5-20 nets a little better gas mileage
