Ziebart-type undercoating/rustproofing?

What are your thoughts/recommendations about purchasing undercoating packages like Ziebart, etc.? My Fit may not have access to a garage and so will have to weather the winters outdoors.

Is undercoating and rustproofing recommended in this case?

This is particularly bad where they use salt and you get a nice spray of salt water in these areas with no where for it to go. The Ziebart process will slow this down, and they do offer some sort of rust through warranty. How they stand by that warranty I don't know, but it may be worth looking into if you plan on keeping the car for very long.

The good news is that cars have come a long way and typically the drainage is much better and galvenized sheet metal is more rust resistant and used much more than in past years. If you plan on keepnig the car for only 5 or 6 years you'll probably be fine even parking it outside.

i'm thinking about having them do it before the winter time.. some guy said it only cost $150.. i think i'll give them a call this week and see if i can get a quote. i might get my windows tinted there while am at it.

i'm not looking forward to this winter in northern pennsylvania with my car because i hear a lot of people have a lot of problems with rust on this car especially in the wheel wells.

i may even get one of those stupid ugly bras to put on the front of the car because i don't want the paint to get pelted by all of the crap they put on the roads.

i dont like those undercoating sprays as they tend to clog up the
drain passages and holes.... plus you have to keep getting it checked
periodically for their limited warranty, i think.

my FitS is a dd and parked outdoors 24/7. i just wash the car as much
as possible in the winter time when temps are over 30F. there's a nice
touchless wash place that has these special jets to clean the
undercarriage and rocker panels. i just take it there.

the car comes with corrosion protection from the factory. just keep it
nice and clean as much as possible.
