Replaced A/C Condensor

Well I replaced the condensor myself to avoid an 800 dollar dealer charge. Guess what? It's a pretty simple job. I wish I would have done a step by step just to show how easy it really is.

Remove bumper. Which is pretty easy, bolts on side and underneath.

Unbolt middle radiator support piece that runs vertical. This allows the condensor an escape path.

Unbolt the two 10 mm lines on the condensor and remove.

Install new condensor. Cut the rubber foam from the top of old condensor and zip tie a piece onto sides of new condensor for protection.

Reinstall.

Use an A/C recharge kit from auto parts store.

Enjoy A/C again especially on last 3200 mile road trip!!!!

Good job. The only thing that I would do different is pay a shop to recharge the system. They apply vacuum and get any condensation out before recharging.

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm guessing that a rock went through his condensor and evacuated it for him

Exactly, I can't take credit for the hole in the ozone.

Angry Hole in my condensr tooo, oh boy

My A/C died a few weeks ago. Took it in yesterday for the latest recall upgrade and had them look into the A/C. Low and behold, a rock put a hole in the condenser. $840 repair. UGH. Has anyone made a fortification around the condenser yet??? Just curious, cause I sure as hell don't wanna have to keep paying to have the thing replaced every other year. It's not like I drive on really bad roads, although, with the current economy, the roads aren't getting the needed repairs. There goes my tax rebate stimulation check. I was soooo gonna stick it to the man and actually invest it. Ding Dang!!!

Glad you pointed this out. Also, shops will put A/C oil in the system which is IMPORTANT . I'm not sure if the of-the-shelf cans have that added in.

Buy the part yourself from hondapartsdeals.com and save 100 bucks from what the dealer charges and do it yourself and save the rest. The condensor was around 200 bucks. And whatever a 10mm wrench will cost you.

Most do. It's premixed.

Lawsuit for Condenser Damages?

Hi all,

This website was advertised in my gmail when I got my last email from Honda. Looks like a law firm is starting a class action suit against Honda for not honoring the warranty. I'm not sure about all the details but I thought everyone here with problems would like to know about it. Here's the link:

Honda Lawsuit

Hopefully some of you can get your 900 bucks back.

It's been over 10 years since car manufacturers have used ozone depleting refrigerants. Also if you don't evacuate your system (apply vacuum), you are asking for big problems down the road.
