sticky gearbox
Technical question - my Jazz - a 3 year old 1.4 Sport with 56K - seems to have a 'sticky' gearbox. This is particularly noticeable when accelerating hard. Does anyone on here have technical expertise to advise? Is this typical - as in transmission wind up - or do I need to look at a something like gearbox oil change? As the rest of the car is in tip top I don't think it's likely to be wear. Apart from that my 'cheap' Jazz is an excellent car looking and driving like a new one at a fraction of the cost! Any help would be appreciated before I spend money...

Change the transmission fluid.
Seen a lot of discussion about changing it twice as often as the service manual guide for best performance. You have to remember that the service interval in the user manual doesn't take into account different driving patterns.
Only use the recommended Honda branded fluid as people who have tried others have had problems including in worst cases having to replace their entire gearbox or at the very least replace with the correct fluid. Unlike with engine oil use of any other fluid besides the one specified instantly voids the warranty. Other fluid manufacturers won't warrant their product for use in the Honda Jazz either.
Be interesting to see what your fluid looks like when its drained and always check for metal filings.

I agree. Change the transmission fluid, and be sure to use geniune Honda MTF. There is a magnet inside the tranny which absorbes metal spoon from the tranny. This is located inside, and you have to take it appart to clean it - which isnt really neccesary.
Also remember that just like your engine - the tranny performs its best when its heated up. Rough shifting on a cold tranny will wear it down faster.
