CVT vibration - help?

Hi,
I have just got my Jazz/Fit, and have noticed a vibration when moving off from a dead stop. It doesnt do it when the engine is cold, first thing in the morning.
I have read on the net that it may be the CVT fluid being ATF-Z1, and it should be changed to Honda CVTF. Or it may be a problem with the 'start up clutch', whatever that is. Has anyone had this problem, or has heard of it?
Thanks.

Your vehicle should still be under 3 year warranty. You should get it checked over before the warranty expires.

Have you changed the fluid since new at all? How many kms have you done?

Hi,
Vehicle is Jap import, warranty ran out yesterday (warranty not transferable anyway). I doubt the fluid has been changed. It has done 28000 kms.

If its an ex Japan car its probably spent alot of its time idleing in traffic (alot more stressful that alot of kms on the clock - think life of a taxi which spends alot of time waiting).

Drop the tranmission fluid and see what it looks like. Put the required 3L+ of new genuine Honda branded fluid in and see how it goes. More than likely it will do the trick.

If it was an Japanese import the 1st thing I would have done when I got it was drop every fluid, oil, coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid and replaced all filters air, oil, fuel. Full inspection of plugs, clearances, brake pads, suspension, the works.

I've seen 4 year old Toyotas with solidified oil (hard as a rock) in their engine come in from Japan which appear to haven't had any maintenance and a very hard life.

Hi,
Did all the fluids yesterday, and full service checks. Except cvt.
picked up 4L of ATF-Z1 today. Honda hadnt heard of the new fluid
CVTF. Have any Honda dealers in Aus heard of it that you know of?

Cheers.

p.s. Where did you get your double din? Evolution-R in Victoria say they have them for AUS$130. Do you know anywhere better?
pps. What is the little symbol with 'clock' written below it on the inbuilt dash? Is it the reversing sensor? Mine just comes up 1640, which I think means not installed?

Can't get the CVTF through Australian Honda dealers either. Honda Australia doesn't bring in a heap of the Honda lubricants that are available in Japan and are generally pretty hopeless.

Wouldn't be a problem for me though as there is one Honda specialist in Sydney called Hannys Performance who services my car and he can get everything and anything for Hondas. He brought in some special Honda ultra high performance race oil for my bike that I can't even find a reference for on the Honda Japan website or HRC but it is just magic stuff (revs like something from a Honda works team).

I brought the double DIN in from Thailand (love that Australia-Thailand free trade agreement - FTA). A$130 is an ok price if it includes the necessary double DIN mounting brackets. JDMYARD have them for about $120 as do a couple of other places I know of.

I don't know about the little symbol your refering to. Would you be able to post a picture. Is it a Japanese character or a picture? If its a kanji character I can easily have it translated if I see a pic as it will only be in hiragana. The Oz Jazzes don't have the reversing sensor and don't offer it as a factory option so might not have that display if its related to that.

When your doing the tranmission fluid be very careful not to overfill it. It should take a bit over 3L but certainly not a full 4L. Bit rough how they only sell the stuff in 1L containers.

Hi,
thx for that. Good news, changing the CVT fluid fixed it!
Funnily enough, it took 4L. They left it draining for 3 hrs...
It is now available (as of last week) in 4L containers!
I paid $56NZ for 4L of ATF-Z1.
The little button is not kanji, but a dot, with a ever increasing sized vertical lines radiating away from it. sort of .<
Gotta be radar/sensor. My car beeps when reversing, what about yours?

Cheers!

Quite a few Fit/Jazz owners in Singapore had solved that vibration problem with the CVTF change. It will be good to change every 30-40K

Hi - I have just changed my Trans fluid with CVTF fluid from Honda, Auckland. It cost me $19.95 for 1Ltr and I ended up using 4 Ltrs. This CVT fluid has only just come out on the market for the CVT's. After changing the fluid I jumped in the car and took her for a spin and she's fixed!! Thanks everyone for your help in this matter!!

When you change fron N to D is the cars brakes fully applied and not released until the gear has been fully engaged?

What milage have you done and have you changed the transmission fluid during the life of the vehicle and if so did you use only the genuine Honda fluid as specified? If you bought the car 2nd hand did you drop all fluids prior to use?

Just like this..
E.g. when i'm on the traffic jam, an the transmission is positioned on D, and starts moving slowly (that's the automatic transmission). when i hit the accell. pedal appr. 1/2 (no brakes was engaged), the sound and small vibrations from my steering comes out.. just like the wheel-spin or something.

i hv bring my aria to local honda's dealer, but they said, nothing is happened. that makes me scared.

Mileage is 18.263 km's. I'm the 1st hand. i've changed the honda's CVTF on around 15.000 Km's...

Yup, have it checked at the dealer. changing the right grade of CVT fluid/oil should solve the problem. it happened on my 1.3cvt before 40,000kms.
