CVT vibration - help?
#22
hi im having the same problem-a judder when starting off and no judder on a cold start. so i took it to the dealer and they changed the ATF Fluid with HONDA CVTF- white bottle with red and black letterings. the juddering reduced but when climbing a hill or a slope the juddering comes back.. the dealers say its the start up clutch and i have to replace the entire tranny.. any ideas please???

akrams,
its the most cost-effective way to fix the car as far as the servicing dealer is concerned since the cost of the tranny will be borne by the owner. as for you, the owner, try driving the car conservatively to see if the start clutch will wear out evenly until the vibration goes away.

Hi,
I have just got my Jazz/Fit, and have noticed a vibration when moving off from a dead stop. It doesnt do it when the engine is cold, first thing in the morning.
I have read on the net that it may be the CVT fluid being ATF-Z1, and it should be changed to Honda CVTF. Or it may be a problem with the 'start up clutch', whatever that is. Has anyone had this problem, or has heard of it?
Thanks.

I'm based in Wellington NZ, I used to have a shuddering CVT transmission too. I had my CVT flushed and used only original Honda fluids, this solved the problem. There is a thread in this forum if you wish to DIY. I did mine by myself and had no issues.
A friend of mine (fit owner as well) recommended that I use Xado EX120, an additive designed for CVT transmissions. I tried it and I have not encountered any issues ever since.
