High mileage oil

I have a 2007 Fit with almost 180 000 miles on it. I do my own oil changes and just switched to "high mileage oil". I'm wondering what are peoples' thoughts on this.... do you think it's a marketing gimmick to make people spend more money on oil or actually useful?

Also, if I do use a high mileage oil, should a use a high mileage oil filter or just a normal filter?

High Mileage oil is a waste of money unless you have other issues (mainly leaks or high consumption).

IMO its best to spend your money on a synthetic. (Issues with leaks have been eliminated for 15 years at least.)

If you replace your filter every time there is no need to buy a special HM filter, remember Honda says 'replace every OTHER time' but I don't know anyone who does...

+++++

You can see that in my mind, 'High Mileage' products are largely just marketing.
