what maintenace do i need

I'm kinda a newbie to cars. Can someone tell me what type of maintenance i should do and the time interval for them? I just did my first oil change in a year with my mileage at 2700. A friend told me I should do a oil change within 6 months or 3k whichever comes first. So it would be great if someone can point me in the right direction so I can beware of the type of maintenance that needs to be done in the future as my mileage increase.

You should follow the Maintenance Minder...except that for low mileage, little-used cars, oil should be changed at least once a year (per Honda).

If you want an idea of other required services, go to the Honda Ownerlink and say that you have a 2006 CRV or 2005 Civic. Then you can look at the maintenance requirements for those non-MM cars.

Remember that there are both Mileage and Time requirements for most services.

Read the owner's manual. You should be able to do oil and filter changes yourself, as well as tire rotations. I like to change brake fluid more frequently than recommended, never longer than 24 months between changes. A vacuum pump (e.g., MityVac) makes brake fluid changes a 1-person operation; see: Brake bleeding. If you're a newbie to cars, take it to the dealer for anything else, or find a knowledgeable person to learn from.
