Doesn't look too bad.

I'd start with an overall spray down with simple green. Let it soak, and then hose it off. Do the obvious things beforehand like covering the fuse box & spark plugs.

Do I cover the alternator?

What on earth is all that corrosion from? Rust and aluminum oxidation? Where do you live? I really hope that's not how our cars are going to wear so quickly.

Looks like you need something to neutralize the surface pH.

What do you mean dressing? Sanding and painting it? FYI water will not remove rust, actually water help causes rust.

Corrosion like that makes me wonder if the car might have been submerged in salt water.... I haven't seen a Fit like that before..... I sure hope the inside of the engine is in better shape.... I would start with some course steel wool followed by medium and fine...The metal lines at the throttle body that are rusting needs to be painted after getting all of the rust and corrosion removed .... It might be better to remove the corroded stuff and take it to a machine shop and have it all bead blaster and clear coat, paint , or have the stuff powder coated..... I am pretty sure you can make it better and maybe even pretty if you put some time and elbow grease into it....

Is it possible that the battery exploded or it was vandalized with acid..... It hurts me to look at it.... I also wonder how the insides of the doors and the underside and suspension looks.

Did you recently purchase this car? Was it from a dealer or a private seller? If it's new to you, I'd look at Carfax, just for peace of mind.

I can't believe that poor neglected Fit engine bay. I have a 2007 and here is what mine looks like - these were just taken a few minutes ago:

Yes, cover up vital parts i.e. battery etc with plastic and you can use an engine clearner and dressing. This one gets cleaned and detailed every time the car is cleaned. I keep after it so that it looks like it is show room . I do show my car but even if I did not I would still include the engine bay everytime the car is cleaned. We want to see some after pictures!

Let the emphasis be on elbow grease rather than chemical agents on the corroded aluminum parts.
