Talking brake wear

Hi - i purchased a 2008 fit and recently took it in for an oil change. The dealer gave me a vehicle inspection checklist which showed an 8 mm front brake and a 3.75 mm rear brake drum reading. What do these readings mean? Is this good? Or do the brakes need work?

That section in vehicle inspection checklist is basically telling you how much friction material you have left on your brake pads (for the front discs) and shoes (for rear drums). 8 mm is approximately 0.315 of an inch and 3.75 mm is approximately 0.148 of an inch.

With that said, you may have to change your drum shoes (rear pads) out soon. Its recommend to change your pads whenever they reach between 1/8 (0.125) to 3/16 (~0.188) of an inch. Also, Honda recommends changing the brake fluid every 3 years for the Fit.

New OE Honda pads are about 11 MM thick in the front so yours are good...no action required.

That said, pad wear is not linear...the last half of pad thickness will only last 1/3 the mileage of the first half. This is true of all cars.
