ATF change

My 08 with AT is at 32k miles. The front of the car was jacked up in preparation for change to winter wheels so I thought I would treat the car to its first ATF change. The drain was easy enough, about 2.5 quarts of fluid that was still red albeit slightly dark. Minimal sludge on the drain bolt.

I don't have a fluid pump so I was going to refill via the dipstick hole. Not easy! I'm only 5'7", 170 and I had a really hard time reaching down just to pull out the dipstick let alone trying to sequence two narrow funnels to do the pour. I decided to wait on doing the follow up drain/ refill cycles until I get a pump. The process is so easy on my two other two Hondas, an Odyssey and Acura TSX, I was surprised I had this trouble. I guess small cars are a challenge but next time I'll have the right tool

depends: I picked up a funnel with an extension and used that plus another funnel to make the connection. Worked well enough.

HeeHee, I got my hand stuck between the radiator support and engine while flushing our Fit's clutch fluid today. Took me 15 minutes (and a few scratches) before I was able to wriggle free!

^^^ No, clutch fluid is actually the same as brake fluid.

ATF fluid is hydraulic oil (with important additives).

Totally different. Don't confuse the two.

Sorry, North American Fits do not use CVT transmissions, so I've never seen one.

Maybe if you posted a pic of the underside I could spot the drain. What is the capacity of the CVT?

ATF Replacement (CVT)

^^ There is a link on how to replace to the CVT fluid featuring detailed images, torque specs, and fluid capacity. Disregard the bit about Z1 ATF, this was mentioned because this was printed before Honda had CVT fluid formulated (back in '02 I think) as well as Z1 ATF being phased out anyway.
