A question about AT fluid change....

Hello,

I've changed AT fluid before in my older Hondas but I love this car and want to make sure I do it right:

I'm almost at 50k and wanted to do a drain and fill. The fluid is no longer vibrant and I would like it fresh for the winter.

I was looking underneath the car and noticed the drain bolt but not a fill bolt as shown in another DIY on this website (it was a Manual).

So the questions are:

1) Do I refill the way I did in the past- Using a funnel and putting fluid where the diptick is.

2) Any particular brand you all like recommend or should I go to a dealership and buy Honda

3) I noticed what looks like a wheel at the south end of the tranny. What's that for?

As always thanks for your help

David

i might be able to help since i just did my atf drain and fill on my ge8.

1. yes its the quickest and easiest way to fill. fill it in the dip stick opening.

2. im still under warranty and honda want you to only use their oem fill which is Honda ATF Z-1 fluid.

3. i am clueless as to what this wheel you are mentioning because i didnt see one when i was doing my fluid change.

Thanks!

I'll pick some up today. Also while I'm draining the tranny, I 'll take a picture of what I'm referring to and post it.

+1 for the oem fluid, I had an Acura that had torque converter shutter that went away when I used real Honda fluid

Warranty = use Z1. Outside warranty or if you don't care, well, Redline D4, Amsoil ATF and Valvoline Maxlife ATF are known to be very good in Honda transmissions. Fill through the dipstick. It's easy that way.
