Driver's wiper - going over top of windshield?

Bought a Rain X beam wiper for the driver's side. It's going over the top of the windshield about 2". The wiper length is the same as OEM.

Is this because the Rain X clip is inline, and the factory wiper is offset on the arm?

Passenger side fits fine.

Who knows. Line up the old one with the new one and see.

I bought the car used. He already trashed the OEM blades. I am considering buying the OEM blades, but want to do $40 worth of research time before spending the $40 to replace the blades I just bought.

I am from MN. Right here in good old MPLS.

I generally research the dimensions of the entire wiper assembly, rather than the blade size. Doing that allows for an estimate of the fitment, and I believe it came up to 16" for driver and 14" for passenger. With that info, I was able to buy PIAA Super Silicone wipers that had exact fitment with no overlap on either wiper.

The portion of the driver's windshield that remains "unwiped" is so large, that I am wondering if the OP replaced the driver's side wiper ARM after the crash.

Kinda weird question: is anybody willing to measure their driver's side wiper arm for me? From bolt cap to tip of J-curve?

With a smaller-than-usual blade, don't you get a big part of the driver's side undone?

Here are a few photos of my situation:

Note that the driver's side arm is super long (29 inches), the passenger side arm seems short (22 inches), and they overlap.

In all the 2007-2008 Fit pictures I have seen, they do not overlap, and the passenger side arm is long while the driver's side is short.

When I swapped the two arms between sides, there is extreme overlap on the passenger's side. So I've just left them as you see them.

I haven't experienced the "passenger wiper overlaps the window trim" problem, and the driver's side wiper protrudes past the top of the windshield when the wiper is vertical.

So - do either of these arms look stock to you?

Can anybody think of a cheaper source of arms that Bernardi? Do the Fit/Jazz arms come from any other vehicle?

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Looks to me that you somehow have the wrong wiper arms or they are reversed and you're not getting the correct blades or you have them reversed or all of the above. Could this be possible? That arm on the drivers side looks a whole lot like the one that should be on the passenger side with a short wiper on it.

Right, I thought so too, but I did a "test swap" and it still didn't look right.

Does anybody feel like being super generous, and measuring their first-gen wiper arms for me?

I think what's going on, is that the short wiper is non-Fit and the long wiper is the Fit passenger side.

If someone measures their wiper arm for me, I would be grateful...

The arms were swapped but the wipers are in the right spot. See the following picture that I stole from another thread

Once you swap the arms back you shouldn't have any problem. Good Luck!

it looks like your wiper arms are on the wrong side, and your wiper blades are also on the wrong wiper arms.

longer wiper arm goes on passenger side, longer wiper blade goes on driver side.

how'd you do that haha

I already took both the arms off and did a test swap. Even with the wipers swapped it didn't work. Both arms have a "R" sticker underneath them, which leads me to believe one is non-factory.

I really would give major props to anyone who can take a quick measurement of the arms from nut to hook. It would be a huge favor.

did you swap the wiper arms AND the wiper blades? or JUST the wiper arms?

I swapped both. Tried all combinations of arms and wipers. The wiper blades are correct length, and I did account for the usual tiny overlap on passengers side.

My overlap is about 3.5" versus the oft-discussed half inch.

EDIT: turns out one is incorrect. A couple inches off. I will try a different size blade, rather than buy a whole new arm.

Beware salvage vehicles; they are cheap; but sometimes require More-Than-Honda effort to live with.
