Spark Plug and Coil Explosion
Just had the sparkplug on my 3rd cylinder blow up and blow out the coil assembly. Had it towed to Honda and when they assessed they said there was pitting in the cylinder from the explosion...they recommended a swap out for another used engine. I only have 130,000kms on the Fit and spark plugs are not due on my maintenance minder until 160,000kms. Despite this, when I called the corporate Honda line look for an explanation and some financial assistance to pay for the replaced used engine, they said, sorry, out of warranty. Can anyone suggest some next steps? I bought the Fit new in 2006 (off the first shipment to Canada) and am now driving around with someone else's engine and a $2500 bill.

WTF is the pitting?? Most likely the defective spark plug (perhaps overtoqued by weed smoked assembler) blew the insulator of metal shell.

The shell can be removed using 5/16 to 716 fine tooth easyout, then replace all spark plugs and coil in cylinder #3 than retest the engine
Dealer just wants to sell you a used engine from wrecked car they had on the backyard
PS I am going to change my plugs early next year
