multifunction switch removal

2008 Fit -- I can't remove the multifunction light switch past the dashboard plastic. Help?

I ran into this same issue recently trying to pull the wiper switch. I thought there might be a way to remove some screws and shift the switch housing forward, but I have since resigned myself to the fact that I will have to pull the steering wheel and cable reel and then remove the switch housing. It sucks because it looks like the switches should come out easier, and the Honda service manual even claims that they can be removed after just removing the column covers. But this is not the case unless someone out there has a trick for removing them.

Exactly. Thanks J.
Any easier way to get some clearance?

This weekend I looked into removing the wiper switch again, and I was able to remove it without pulling the steering wheel. I did this by removing the screws for the switch housing, which allowed enough play to just remove the switch. See my post here. However, I looked at the light switch side, and I am not sure this solution will work there. It looks like the dash contour on that side is bigger and the light switch itself is bigger than the wiper switch. Maybe you can try it yourself, but it doesn't look promising :(.

Thanks again Jbox. Glad you were able to get the wiper switch out & replaced.

My experience confirms your suspicions about removing the light switch -- no way I could get it to clear the dash contour -- even after removing the housing screws and jostling it -- unless there is some way to further twist or remove that collar.

Still looking for how to get a bit more clearance. thanks.

I ended up putting it all back together and living with the faulty switch rather than dealing with the steering wheel.

Hi there does anyone know if this is still an issue for the 2nd gen sport models? I have a 2010 sport and need to replace the light/ turning switch. Thanks!
