how do you burn stainless steel?

okay in my surfing for fit stuff I had at one time found a tail pipe that was chrome and at the opening to an inch or 2 back there was a coloring that made it look like there had been high heat that came out there like blues, purples and oranges?? away I was trying to figure out what that is and how to archive a similar look on metal. Any links or help greatly appreciated.

thanks

~~found that here A SPEC PRODUCTS `~~

Now I am wondering how to get that burnt look?

All they're really doing is heating the metal till it changes color. Different metals will change at different temps to different colors. I imagine you could do it yourself with a torch, but better to just buy a product with the burnt coloring already applied, like the Aspec muffler in the pic.
