Slow Car dyno day! 3 runs w/ the fit

Well yesterday was a "slow car dyno day" at a shop in KC. Any cars putting under 100whp dyno's free, if you're over, you pay the $30 for the run hehe. Cash prizes included $200, $100, and $50 for lowest numbers lol. Anyway I knew from looking at other dyno's that the Fit puts under 100whp. Since I wanted to get a baseline run of my car before I started any mods, this was a GREAT opportunity. I had to work so my bro took it there for me.

2007 Honda Fit 5spd MT
only mod I had is the k&n drop in filter, that's it!

I was VERY pleased with my results, I had looked at other stock MT dynos and most were at 90whp. I didn't expect my k&n filter to help any, and I"m not sure if it did or not, but I put down 95whp and 92 ft/lb torque =D 5 more whp more than I expected, not that it was a lot, but hell it's 5! I hear people saying the k&N does nothing for the car, and who knows maybe it doesn't..but 95, I say is pretty good, factory freak! hahah

Here's a video and pics.

here were the run conditions not seen in pic. 91.34F, 29.5 in-Hg, Humidity 21% SAE 1.02
the blue run was done less than a minute after the green run so it was lower, the red run was done ten minutes after the 2nd.

I've only seen one other MT that dynoed at 90 WHP and that was the baseline dyno for the A & J Racings turbo which meant it had a whopping ~17% drive train loss for a MT.

The Jackson Racing baseline dyno was more in line with a MT with a loss of ~13% which meant a WHP of 95 same as yours.

But at least you know your drive train loss now it's ~13%.

You could put the factory air filter back in and I'll bet it still has 95 WHP a drop in filter won't make much difference unless you're replacing a very dirty filter.

My car dynoed 105 hp/103 tq corrected. I will have to scan the printout to prove it. The only thing done to my car at the time was a Spoon drop in filter.

You also have this one.

I've had a dyno show mine at 143 WHP with just a couple mods so it really doesn't mean much. For that matter I could run one tomorrow and make it show 500 WHP if I wanted to. But I won't waste my time doing it.

It looks like dynos aren't worth the gas it takes to run them or the paper they're printed on.

lol, I didn't win any money.. if they did something like closest to 100whp but under, I might have.. anyone could've brought in a beater HF or old civic dx hatches and taken the prize, not sure who won it though. I went for the free dyno! =)

as for everyone else, I figure dynos are all fairly different, but I still liked what my numbers threw down. Compared to aspec racing, my torque was up by 3ft/lb. Anyway, it's good for a baseline for myself when I add a couple mods =)

Are you calling my bluff? Why would I pay $60 for 3 pulls, then lie about them?

I didn't think you were bluffing. It would just be nice if they could make dynos in such a way that they would show the same numbers regardless of which one you used or whomever was operating it.

As it is the same car can go from one dyno to another and pull a wide range of numbers. For that matter the same care on the same dyno at different times or a different operator can pull different numbers.

Is there one that is actually right always? It sure doesn't look like it. Maybe a engine dyno but who wants to pull their engine to have it dynoed? Not me.

Anyway he likes his dyno numbers and that's what counts. Right?

lol <40 hp, that surely would've taken the prize haha, thanks for the comments guys, I liked the dyno results, I won't read into them that much, but it gives me a good starting point and to what my gains are relatively.

thanks man.. I was really happy with my numbers especially after seeing the numbers put down by the AT fit in Siphon magazine... Even after $1000+ worth of products it gained only like ~4-5whp and was still less than a bone stock MT fit.. man the AT doesn't seem to respond well to mods.

it not that the engine dosnt respond to mods well, its that your tranny is making you lose more power than a mt fit

I just went to a dyno day today to get a baseline run for my car and it measured 98hp with 95ft of torque bone stock except for AMSOil 0W-30 oil for the past 15k miles (switched to AMSOil at 4k, ran that for 10k and my current oil change is at 5k, total milage on my car is currently 19k) and a muffler delete.

I'll scan up the graph later to prove it. Not that I'm hyping my relatively high numer for a stock baseline, but I'm quite happy it went past the 95hp mark, then again all dynos aren't created equal. The dyno I visited was a DynoJet with SAE correction and smoothing set to 1 and the day was pretty hot and humid, about 96F with 80% humidity, it was raining hard after a sunny early afternoon.

that's cool man.. but can you go further on the muffler delete? lol that doesn't sound bone stock to me ;-)

as for the amsoil, BALLER! jp but that is good stuff, I've heard of whp gains from oils so hey maybe that's where it's coming from =)
