Question catback for automatic?

so, it looks like the wife will be getting a nbp sport AT. i would like to do some simple mods on it. with regards to an exhaust, will i be wasting money to expect any noticable gains with the auto tranny? also wondering about an intake as well. any AT owners with these mods please please let me know your experiences.
thanx.

i have a VBP auto with mods listed below.

there is definitely some power gain with the butt dyno. as for actual HP gains, i'd estimate around 6-8 WHP.

the problem with the auto is that you lose more power in the tranny than if you had the manual. the auto Fits have been consistently dyno'ed around 89-91 WHP, while the manuals are around 95-98 WHP.

obviously, the mods aren't going to make your car THAT much faster, but they are something fun to do if you like just tinkering with your car.

there are a lot of exhaust choices out there, both cat- and axle-back. the best bang for your buck would be the Modacar cat-back exhaust. Auto Accessories, Performance Car Parts, Import&Domestic @ Modacar Auto Accessories i have mine installed and it works great. with the silencer, the sound isn't terribly loud and has a very definitive growl. however, that's not to say that the other exhausts aren't good. the a-spec axle back, tanabe medallion series, skunk 2 50/60 mm mega power series, and the t1r titanium series are all respectable as well.

the forums have a ton of info on each of those exhausts i just mentioned. you just need to dig for it.
