Bypass Valve

Are there any intake bypass valves offered for the Fit? I have an Injen CAI and it's been raining like crazy so I'm worried about hydrolock.

I'd also like any feedback as to whether the bypass valves are worth using.

are bypass valves worth using? how do they work?

i also saw something else that injen offered called a "hydroshield". it didn't seem like much more than putting a breathable tarp over the intake. do those work well?

the way the bypass vlave works is that there is a "cutout" if you will and a foampiece is added there that way if the intake sucks up water the water will spill out when it reaches that point.

i have the injen CAI. it's a two-piece pipe that can convert to a short ram. can i slide the bypass valve in between the two pieces of pipe or would i have to cut somewhere?

i was reading instructions for install on AEM and they mentioned cutting pipes.

yes you can add it where yours couple up. you might have to trim just a tad because it will lengthenthe piping just a tad. Im sure you could get away without cutting tho.

Actually the bypass valve works like a second filter that ONLY WORKS if the main primary filter is ingulfed in water. When the regular filter gets sucked up with water, the bypass valve opens up and breathes the air from there, not letting the water rise. I saw the video put out by AEM where they literally took a NSX and built this special clear plastic CAI that ran from the intake mani to a filter dunked inside a fish tank full of water. Well, when the car was turned on, you see the water rise a little inside the filter and just stop because the bypass valve opened up and was pulling the air from there. Remember, the filter was totally engulfed under water like to mimmick a HUGE puddle or rainstorm.

If i can find the vid, i'll post it.

the bypass kinda defeat the purpose of CAI since some warm airs will be leaked into the system...thus taking a hit on the HP, hydrolock is so rare, just don't run into floods...you don't need one
