If you wanna talk name and price think of this, given the choice would you rather wear a rolex or a casio? Both tell the time. You get the idea.

you ever get that b pipe?

the b pipe makes the exhaust note a lil deeper (i have both the Spoon N1 and B pipe, and the drop in filter for kicks)

its an extremely nice piece.

Where is everyone finding the b-pipe at? If I do decide to go cat-back I want the pipe to be pretty lightweight, but I won't get one without a resonator. Does the Spoon one fit that criteria? I haven't been able to find it anywhere, only Mugen and J's Racing.

i got mine from bulletproof (i believe they are a vendor on the forums). yes it has a resonator and its lighter than stock.

i picked up the axle back from JHPUSA (they had it in stock and its like 20 minutes from where im at).

For $430 that seems like a reasonable price for half the exhaust
i paid about 800 for my invidia exhaust with the test pipe for my old s2000
most exhausts for the s2k cost about 900 all the way up to 2000 for the supersprint exhaust.

so coming from spoon i think thats a good deal

oh and i have the spoon filter and i'm not sure if it
does anything for the motor but it does sound different
in the engine bay.

I'm no ricer but I'll gladly pay more for a quality brand name product, that has been track tested and tuned, over some weirdo Made in the USA crap.

The spoon N1 is sexy as hell, doesn't have that over sized ricer look and it sounds great at idle and WOT.

Yeah that's what i thought

Ricers can't affford the nice stuff so they buy the knock-offs

I don't see what's wrong with spending the extra money for a nice product

Still haven't been able to find a vendor for the Spoon b-pipe, anyone care to guide me? Bulletproof isn't a vendor here anymore and I didn't find anything on their website either.

anyone that buys "jdm" stuff, is a ricer
anyone that buys volks over rotas, just to have that name on their car, is a ricer
anyone that puts any lip/body kit/window visors, different headlights (other than hid reto's), or does ANYTHING that doesn't direcetly make hte car perform better...is a ricer, period.

GSRswapandslow - So basically anybody that does almost virtually anything to their car is a ricer?

The term "ricer" is so vague and can be interpreted so many different ways it seems. :P

ArisenFury - SPRINGRATES.COM - Aftermarket suspension source and more.

These guys seem to carry it, along with other cool stuff, too.

pretty much, yeah...

if a body kit is explicitly put there to aid in drag reduction, down force addition/reduction, or some other type of legitimate benefit...it's rice

any lighting mod, that doesn't directly HELP in someway..(i.e jdm taillights, black housing headlights, etc..) is rice

buying desmond, rays, works, or other over hyped JDM wheels just to be jdm....RICE

right hand drive conversion, RICE

now...let me also say, this isn't necessarily a BAD thing...to each his own, but lets not forget....if ti's not a performance mod, in some way, it's just rice...PERIOD.

people are so skewed as to what rice is...they think neon cars, "altezza" tail lights, apc intakes, 3a racing seats, and knock off body kits are rice.....well, how the HELL is taht any different from "organic" colored cars, jdm tail lights, mugen intakes (that make the same damn power/tq), recaro racing seats, or +ings body kits???????? NOTHING, it's just different taste, and it's one of my pet peeves.

GSRswapandslow - That's cool dude, I was curious as to what your perspective on the meaning was.

Yeah, "rice" can be attributed to many different things, as you explained. I think depending on the tuner's own perspective as to what their goals with their vehicle are (e.g.: Creating a car STRICTLY for "show" and no "go" vs. actually tracking/autocrossing their car, collecting race data and then modifying it accordingly to their specific needs) can greatly distinct between what can be considered a "rice rocket" and a "properly tuned vehicle".

Also - I agree with you on the point you made about basically "buying JDM goods to only simply make it MORE JDM"... IMHO, I think for a performance-minded tuner, sometimes the whole "JDM" thing can be a little hyped... For example, there's nothing wrong with getting a quality custom exhaust fabricated which would probably be lighter and cheaper than buying and importing one from Japan. (At least from the experiences of people that I've observed)

But of course, to each his own, and I'm definitely not trying to trash talk about the JDM scene, there definitely is cool stuff out there. But don't let it brainwash you into making you think it's so "Godly superior" to everything else out there on the market...

Example: I know tons of guys (WRX, Miata, Civic, etc.) in autocrosses, and in various SCCA track events that rock Rota wheels. And they get damn fast times, too. Hehe... A driver's skill is the most important component that will be the decider on lap times... Regardless of what is on the car.

Haha, this is completely off topic but thanks for sharing your .02... I just think it's an interesting subject. :P
