injen is melting my lip

i just installed my injen cat-back monday and after cruising down the highway at 100mph i found that the lip on my bumper is melting away, and i found melted plastic on my hatch.....WTF im just gonna cut a round area around the tip to form to the exhaust before more melts off and it messes up my bumper unless there are any better ideas

See if you can get some heat sheilding material, thin stuff looks like fluffy tinfoil. A temp fix untill you figure out how to rectify the situation.

How close is your tip to the bumper? (stuff on hatch? From turbulance/vortices?)

Throw us some pics if ya can...

um...I guess dont drive a hundred!

lastly...from the heat of the exhaust gasses or radiant metal?

take it to a shop and have them heat up the hangers til the muffer hangs a bit lower, if you can get the metal of the muffler further away from the bumper it should stop the melting

yeah thats what my hks super drager did. it melted my rear lip just a tiny bit. but only the back part.

its expected...i used to run the buddy club but the hangers were longer so it dropped a bit lower.

yeah they have this stuff. looks like carbon fiber..but its actually a stick on heat shield. i see it on a lot of high end cars... looks nice.

It's very simple to pull off your muffler and slip a length of pipe over the long hangers at the rear of the vehicle. Bend the hangers down SLOWLY as they could possibly break from over bending until you have about 1/2 an inch clearance between the muffler and any panels.

Try it by slipping the muffler back on and holding it in place before bolting it back on securely. But really the problem is self correcting the pipe will only get so hot and melt the plastic so far before it reaches thermal max and it stops melting the plastic.

that is exactly what i want! and was telling him about.

i think those are really sexy. but not so drastic.

or you can go get longer rubber things so your hangers will drop a bit lower

cost you like 5 bucks. and it looks cleaner.
