axle back melting bumper

hey guys
i've done a search for this and there are a few threads people are saying that the heat of the exhaust could melt the rear lip.

of those post, only 1 has actually had it happened. so i was wondering if anyone here has had their muffler melt their lip?

and also, my muffler is touching the rear lip. what do you guys think? safe?

cheers

generally, you can dismiss any of that fear if you buy one of the brand name axleback/catback exhausts. i'm not sure about the clearance on ge8 FIT's but even all the gd3 jdm exhausts fit fine without any fear of burning/melting the bumper or lip.

i'm pretty sure it's the people who buy the hack-n-weld mufflers from the corner "bargain-muffler" shop, poor measurement and clearance will result in a burned and/or melted bumper

that's not good if the exhaust is actually contacting the rear lip. it can be (relatively) close, but definitely shouldn't be touching.

yeahs, i'm not worried about the heat that the muffler exhibits (through the pipes), just the contact between the muffler and the rear lip. it's a 5zigen so brand and quality shouldn't be an issue.
