1.1 VS 1.3 on Radiator Cap

so i just bought a mugen oil cap and a mugen radiator cap but i was being a dumba$$ and i assumed the radiator cap was 1.3 but really the stock cap is 1.1

will it make any difference if i use the mugen 1.3 radiator cap or is my car gonna blow up if i do??

and what does the 1.1 and 1.3 stand for btw?

I believe it increases the pressure in your cooling system. I was thinking about picking one of these up soon enough.

does that extra pressure in my cooling system effect my car dramatically or is it a small difference that it'll be safe?

1.1 and 1.3 are measurments of pressure. (BAR in stead of PSI) 1 bar = 14.7 psi (i think)

With more pressure, your engines cooling system can withstand more heat. however, with more pressure, you put more wear and tear on the engine cooling components. If you're racing and want to keep the car in an effective cooling range, a higher rated rad cap would be useful. other than that, it's not really necessary.

the higher pressure you put on water the longer it takes to boil. the 1.3 will help keep it running "cooler".

I think it is pretty useless unless you have it on a track car.

Increasing the pressure of the coolant system will...

-Increase boiling point of the coolant...
-Increase heat transfer of the cooling system...
-Increase water pump efficiency at higher revs... (Less Cavitation!)

...and in theory should...

-Decrease warm-ups time due to better heat transfer....

Not too useful for a street car but you allready have the part and it will not hurt either as increasing the pressure from 16Psi to 19Psi is marginal... Mopar Perf. have 22-23Psi Caps for their SRT-4 (from 18Psi Stock!)...

Marko!!
