Ingalls Stiffy vs Spoon engine torque damper

I noticed a few members have the Ingalls Stiffy ETD and like it very much. Wanted to know if there were any members with the Spoon ETD and their opinion.

So far only differences I can visually see are:

-price; Spoon $140-235, Ingalls $145

-damper size? Ingalls ETD looks a little bigger than the Spoon in the pictures?

-and damper mounting design;

Spoon:

Ingalls:

The spoon design looks like its more eye-candy than function compared to the Ingalls ETD which looks a lot more stable but not as cool looking like the Spoon ETD.

Is this true, or does the Spoon ETD function just as well as the Ingalls?

The only disadvantages I read on having one installed are:
-shortens life of engine mounts?
-increases vibration levels?

They both are engine torque dampers.. what makes the other one better to you guys?

From what I heard from a guy on this forum who has personally experienced both the Spoon one creates way more vibration throughout the whole car compared the the ingalls. He also thought that the ingalls seemed to function better than the Spoon, but this is all based on 1 guys opinion.

i made a write up for the spoon installation one in another thread, this post was before i bought it..

I can't say which one produces less vibration bc i only used the Spoon. I don't think it produces more noticeable vibration. Although the Ingalls design seems to be more stable in terms of mounting location. Functionality, they both do the same thing, not sure which one dampens better, but the Spoon ETD does the job well. The Spoon one stands out more when I open the hood though :-D

some forum members say all you need are longer bolts, but I think only certain strut bars would work. If you plan to get one, I'd make sure it works with the strut bar you want to get, or I'd just get the Ingalls one and avoid the whole issue

You know the Ingalls IS adjustable.

I had one on the Civic. On the loose side of adjustment it reduced vibration at idle and cruise from the motor mount inserts I had (the elastomer spring works well at that). On the tight side, the motor wasn't going ANYWHERE but I had screws falling out of the dash.

You just get to pick where it's gonna be. Pain to adjust because of the skinny nut- some people use bicycle wrenches- but still works alright.

Still I wish I would have done just the rear insert and the Ingalls. Three hours on the highway was enough to induce diarrhea.

If I was to get one, I'd get the Spoon ETD and Spoon strutbar..
