whatever happened to the spoon fit?
#9
Articles I have read described it as an 'experiment' in fuel economy and pit strategy. It seemed to have been somewhat of a success in that department. Perhaps they determined, however, that it was not going to be very competitive in its class.
When you all say de-tuned, wasn't this car essentially stock in the engine department? It has a JDM L15A with the plastic intake runners and smaller throttle body that Spoon balanced and blueprinted for 90 WHP. The ECU was re-tuned to put less emphasis on MPG but the racecar managed 20 MPG at Thunderhill.
(It is amusing how many times I've seen references to the K-series equiped Spoon Fit... )
How much do you think they could sell that Fit for?

The Spoon Fit and the RL was running at Thunderhill 25 hrs endurance race in 2005. The Fit came 1st but that was the ONLY car in class......oh well
The Spoon RL was pretty well tuned but because of driver error, the car crashed during the 3rd lap of the race
