Piggyback units and L15 Tuning

I was just curious what everyone's opinions/experiences were with piggyback units such as the Apex'i AFC Neo and the like.

The reason I ask is because I am about to get a new intake to replace my DIY intake. Also I have a Megan header and a Weapon*R Intake Manifold awaiting install and I don't want to run too lean. Will a piggyback unit help or can the factory ECU compensate for the increased airflow?

Discuss (please)

But with Greddy going under, are they going to completely shut down or just downsize? I'd rather buy a product I can get support/valid warranty from.

...or is that whole Trust/Greddy bankruptcy thing fixed now? I'm so far behind on the news

Oh ok lol. Last I heard Trust was about to be no more. Aaaaaaanywho.

I guess my biggest question would be: How much would I actually benefit from installing a wideband sensor or fuel management with just bolt-ons?

*shrug*

As far as I know Trust/Greddy is the same company so I assumed that when Trust went under, Greddy was right behind it.

Am I better off just letting the factory ECU compensate for the improved airflow?

i've installed dastek unichip piggyback and it does great.
Based on dynotest, it add about 9,7 HP to my L15A idsi engine.

Stock computer should compensate at part throttle... problems may arise at WOT where the computer ignores the Oxygen sensor and goes into a pre-programmed portion of the computer based on a stock engine... On a less expensive way of tune, you may want to try an ajustable fuel pressure regulator like a B&M and increase the pressure a little bit... A wideband will be of a great help to tune the engine also regardless if you tune on a piggyback or on a AFPR...

i was talking with ben from aj racing and he was saying that he is going to make a wiring harness to run kpro on his L15A. should be promising. i asked him if he would make me one too. as for NA power, you should be fine with a piggyback for now. when you start getting into different cams and higher compression (which they mostly dont make for our cars) you will want to think about another option.

talk with sugarphreak. he would know something about this cause he has the weapon r intake manifold with full exhaust and i think he is running the emanage ultimate and he only increased about 5hp on a dyno run.... FI still seems to be the only way to go.

Honda Fit Power Pages - Import Tuner Magazine

From my understanding, the stock cat-back on a near stock fit should be sufficient! I would (Will!) do intake first, followed by the pulley, then header, piggyback, high flow cat and then, maybe the exhaust... It seems that the L15A would need a better Camshaft and some head ports polishing as the port walls are said to be too thin to be ported!!

thats because the there isnt enough flow to get any decent gains with intake mani

DASTEK is South African! (Should post the story on the turbocharged Lambo Gallardo they 'chipped', times are better than that of the Bugatti Veyron if I recall correctly!)

Uni-Q+ being the latest piggy back system, will hopefully be getting one of these in the near future...
