Check this out!! Just don't know if the ports and bolts patterns are the same between the L15A and the I-DSI...

Sorry, for putting this up again, but do you know whether the Spoon throttle body fits the L13A engine or not? Spoon only mentions the L15A. Do you have any information on possible gains for the small Fit engine?

Thanks for any advice!

There was a posting on swapping throttle bodies for the L15A. A couple of guys says an older style BMW 3 series is a direct fit. And some say the GE8 is a bit larger and could possibly fit as well.

It should fit. I'm not sure, if you get significant gains tho.

My car is GD3, I remember that the stock throttle body is 55mm. I currently have a spoon TB installed. The size of spoon TB should be 58mm.

I'm sorry: Are you sure its original ^^

I found very much fake (crappy) parts in Thailand.

How is your experience regarding hp gain (do you feel a gain?)?

Sorry for the late reply, just come back for a track day weekend.

Yes, I am sure I got the original one. My friend owned a workshop and also a disutributor/agent for many brands of tuned parts from Japan. And I do not use fake parts.

pls check this out:J'S RACING JAPAN

The outer measurement is 58mm(stock is 55mm), the butterfly valve is 52mm(stock is 50mm)

Actually, I do not feel much more differences at low RPM, but on high RPM(4000+rpm), I feel RPM going up more faster.
I use the SPOON TB with the KN air filter, I can hear the sound of intaking air when hone high RPM(5000rpm+)

My intake/exhaust setup is smiply at the moment: KN, SPOON TB, Muggen Muffler.

Nice. Its cheapier than the Spoon TB as well. I'm lucky that the Spoon one is sold out.

One of my friends has a GD3 as well with stock TB and other similar setup as mine. On 0-400mm, I am faster about 8meter.

Another experience just got from the track weekend. On a 1500mm circuit time attack. I finished in 1:46:33. The new GE8 finished in 1:43:43

But notice:
My GD3 tyres 195/45 16
front: Yokoham ES100
Rear: CSC 1
Both tyres are about 40% left. All street setup

GE8 tyres 195/45 16
Front: Bridgestone Potanza RE01R
Rear: Yokoham AD07

You should really get a Spoon TB. It helped me a lot so far.

Isn't it similar to the Js Racing TB? I've ordered the Js as the Spoon is not available anymore and used very rare.

Sorry not been clear.

Actually, my spoon TB product number is 16400-GD3-000, It is for GD3 AT originally, The dia is 58mm. I use it on GD3 MT to make sure the low end torque is well. If I use 16400-GD3-010 which is designed for GD3 MT, then I feel the intake side dia is too big(I remember it is 65mm).
So I suggest if your GD3 is almost original power, then do not go for 65mm one. 58mm one is balanced well. I havent heared someone use 65mm spoon TB on GD3 so far for stock power(or almost stock power). There will be too much lose of low end torque.
Js TB should only have one choice, the 58mm one, with cheaper cost.I think it will function the same as spoon TB 16400-GD3-000.

Ok, so no problem

P.S. the J's isn't really cheapier as I thought. Its a trade-in price so I paid 175 eur more for a oem tb that is organized by J's.

Final price incl. OEM TB is around 450,- EUR. The Spoon should cost 480,- EUR so its nearly the same price.

And the Spoon MT TB should not have 65mm. Look here:
Singapore Fit and Jazz Club
Using a Vernier caliper, the stock TB measure 52.4mm while the Spoon TB measure 57.3mm, a little off from Spoon's claim of 58mm. Maybe because I measured from the middle of the intake cone though, cause it looks like it's tapered inwards. I guess if I measured from the edge I should have 58mm.
I don't think you can bore the OEM TB to 65mm. Look how thick the material is. Doesn't make sense.

Yes,you are right. The OEM TB can not be bored to 65mm. But I did see this 65mm size in spoon web. I am confused too. Any possibility for spoon to supply a brand new 65mm TB? I do not konw.

Spoon said they bored the TB tapered inwards, so the edge should be 58mm. And I did meesured.

Anyway, to me, I think spoon and Js should be very similar. Hope you enjoy your Js TB.

Thats really nice if you want to create a certain" brand" car, but if thats your thinking about getting the fastest HP output then you could be disappointed.

But if you need to have the best HP output parts, you really need to do some research on the products.

For instance, the spoon HEADER on the S2000 doesn't do ANY good. in FACT, it LOSES power while the J's Racing Header gains a whopping 10whp mid range!

research is the key! Don't assume it's good because there is SPOON written on it.

I got a 70mm TB on my S2K, but i also needed to port match my intake to the TB... Just a warning for some guys if you get a big bore TB and still have a tiny intake manifold opening, then it wont do much after al..

Just my 0,02ct

I would be curious to even see the difference on a Dyno between a 50mm and a 52mm Throttle Body on a Near Stock L15A1! As i allready said, i'm from the Dodge Neon world where swapping your stock 49mm Throttle Body (on a Manual Neon!) for the bigger 52mm Throttle Body that came on every single Automatic neon netted a gain everywhere on the powerband but swapping the 52mm out for a 55mm didn't give much, if any, HP!

Now i know that a Neon engine is 500cc bigger then a L15A1 and that Cam specs is not even close... I just wonder what are the gains of a 52mm Throttle body Vs. a 50mm on a Fit!!

Marko!!
