Weapon R intake manifold install question.

Because of the way this manifold system works you almost need backpressure to make power (as an example, I lost 1whp when I removed the silencer from my exhuast) I would say that a turbo + this manifold would produce some interesting results.

I would really like to see what kind of results this would yield on an FI vehicle.
I just talked to Chris at Weapon*R and he told me that the FINAL version of the intake manifold should be ready in about 3 weeks, which is consistent with what SFactor2 had said earlier. He said that anyone with an older version of the manifold will be able to trade up to the new one. I think he said you'd only have to pay shipping. He said they'd be willing to ship out the replacement manifold first so I can just swap 'em out. I just have to give him a credit card number to keep on hold so that just in case I don't return the old one, they will charge me for the new one.
Wasn't sure if you already knew that but I thought I'd just put it out there.

so is there a big differance in size with the wr manifold vs. oem? i plan on going FI within a couple months and i would be willing to buy one of these only if it will help the turbo use cpr on my l15.

One of the cool things about the manifold is the velocity stacks inside, it pumps a ton of air into the engine quickly. The runners are also significantly larger in diameter and very direct for optimum flow.
I think a turbo would yield some interesting gains, it definitely needs some back pressure on the exhuast to make power.
Here is a pic of the pre-production model inside after I used it for a while (it also highlights the need for catch cans). You can see the velocity stacks inside, on the final version of this manifold they are extended out a bit more.

Ya i remember you saying you had already swapped yours. But they said that the new version is different still (i don't know how). Whenever I get around to swapping it I'll post more updates

Well I don't have to pay for the new version so I might as well give it a shot I just have to send them back my current one. Considering I bought it used, it's actually a pretty good deal

Yeah they have a "fuel computer" that will make adjustments, I think they were asking 50$ for it. It sounds like a low cost option to tuning, but I don't know the specific details about it. My question would be if it would run the correct a/f based on elevation and other modifications done to the car.

The new version is cleaner looking, embossed logo and has a new EGR nipple between the runners on the lower flange. The one I got unfortunately was missing a screw mount near the TB that was on the pre-production model, I let them know and I think they will make the correction to any new ones they produce. Not a big deal, I just used a bit of double sided tape, it is barely even noticeable and the part does not have any kind of load bearing on it.

which AF computers do you think are the best for basic bolt-ons? Nothing over kill just for a DD, so not too expensive but will do a good job. Apexi neo, e-manage or f-con? what is this tune chip?

I havn't seen enough hard data for naturaley aspirated tuning systems to know, I went with the E-manage Ultimate because the Fit responded much better to it than the E-manage Blue on turbo setups.

ooh isee i see. damn the emanage ultimate is so serious dough though. lol. I may give the apexi afc neo a shot.

cool. thanks. Maybe I'll pick one up next week. As far as installing the Apexi AF unit, how hard is it? I'm terrible with anything that involves wires. LOL
