nice thread.
what happened to your first build? what did you do half assed that caused it to fail?
what hoses are you tapping into to get the vacuum source for the BOV and your boost gauge?

btw, im using a turbo thats very similar to taht and i cant get the damn exhaust side free from the center to clock it properly. ive tried wd40, pb blaster (let ti souck for about 15 hours) and a blow torch...nothing has worked.
any ideas?
the oil return fitting is about 45* away from sitting vertical and im afraid that since its gravity fed it wont drain properly like that....

yeah get a nice hammer and pound it off!!!!
the turbo just went out on my first setup, it was an old turbo that i knew was gonna fail anyways, plus my oil drain set up didnt help it any. i need to drill and tap it this time. I just rushed to get things done so, i wasnt happy on how things looked, im a bit of a perfectionist haha

dont drill and tap your oil pan. do what i did. weld a male -10AN fitting on the pan and run a braided line for your oil return.

It's like a fitting that screwed into the oil drain almost like the banjo bolt setup like the HKS kit.
haha i haven't gone full throttle for so long so i wouldnt know if it's slow or not...

yeah i would love to get it welded, but i dont know how to weld aluminum and i dont want to pay to do either.
drilling and tapping would work just as well though, it shouldnt be a problem, and it's something i can do on my own

thats a pretty good price. i got a quote from a shop close to me, and they wanted 100 bucks to drill and weld it. and i was like pffft screw that!
lol well im still keeping my options open, im gonna finish up the manifold and down pipe first.

harbor freight flux core welder!! it was only like 100 bucks.

and it welds alright, i took an angle grider with a wire wheel on it and cleaned it up after i took this pic and all the slag came off and it looks just like any other clean weld. this should help with finishing up my downpipe and the rest of my charge pipes.
overall im content with it

i'm to lazy to metal finish anymore. lol have fun with that. nice updates. I will admit I almost started building my manifold last night. lol but not sure I want a log. almost tempted to get crazy to do a sidemount mani. but I'm definitly to lazy for that. to much relocating.

yeah i know what you mean i HATE cleaning welds! but it's alright though it will be some extra work but i can handle it. im just gonna use this for the down pipe and to finish up the charge pipes. as for my manifold, im having a local welder TIG it up for me.
As for you, you should make a tubular topmount, it shouldnt be too hard for you since you are a way better fabricator than i am. im just gonna stick to the log for simplicity.
do something like this:

i've built one very similar to that in the past, but i'm not sure if we have the clearance for something like that. the firewall clearance gets pretty tight towards the top.

well it is tight but very doable, my first set up was a topmount log and there was an okay amount of room. you should make one with the turbo sitting lower and there should be plenty of room
