My Homebuilt 2.5" Catback Exhaust

Just got semi done with this tonight. I need to trim the tip and paint it black but other wise this is done. It's 2.5" because the Fit will be Turbocharged in the very near future. I used 2 Reducers for now to match stock piping but they will get cut off and a flange put there when the downpipe is made for the turbo. I just don't want to do it all at once so I am putting stuff in as I can. All 2.5" Dynomax bends and Summit 2.5" piping aside from the darker short bend by the muffer, it's an older piece but still 2.5". The Muffler is a Thrush Hush Chambered muffler, cheap at Summit racing. I have about $100 in the entire system thanks to my freind welding for free because he is cool like that.

Like I said I need to trim the tip some so its flat opening on the bottom like stock. The pictures both look up hence you can see the bottom edge of the bumper, you really can't see it at all when looking from behind. Just how I wanted it, and once painted black it will dissapear.

As for sound, awesome. It is really quiet with the stock cat on there compared to all the straight through systems I've seen posted on Youtube. I will take a video of it NA with this system before it gets boosted. Sounds really good, just a low exhaust rumble and intake noise from the CAI.

Did you read my whole post? It's not loud at all. Actually it's quieter than some of the axleback only systems I've heard.

That I can agree with, when we went for the test drive neither of us could believe how quiet it is for full 2.5" on an Na 1.5 motor. After driving more today I can say it is actually less noisy than just pulling the axleback which is how I had been running for a while. It sounds pretty similar to stock exhaust minus axleback but this setup the tone is deeper and the DB level is just a bit less.

Stealth and don't have to worry about scrapping the tip.

looks awesome! actually, it doesn't 'look' at all because it disappears underneath your car

i'm in for a sound clip. i was thinking about buying a vibrant universal chambered muffler and getting a shop to weld it together for me but i've been weary of custom jobs. i'm more worried about raspyness and pinging from a bad welder

Now that it's lowered it's even harder to see.

The muffler has "broken in" a little and it did get a bit louder but still a good sound. I'll get it sound clip one day, my D40 doesn't do video so I have to borrow one.

The only guy I trust to weld up a system like that owns a local muffler shop and did a 2 1/2" axle back for me 3 years ago.... After I add on what I need to up my boost I am going to have him do a similar set up for me but with a bigger muffler due to being super charged. A turbo will actually make your car quieter...... I wish more people here would use their brains instead of credit cards.

that looks awesome, I am a huge fan of "hidden" exhaust.

is it stainless pipes? and what did you spray it with? I've been spraying my other car's exhaust with high-temp rustoluim (bbq black) for many years. It works like a champ provided your willing to pull it and respray some trouble areas every other year.

Nope, not stainless. Just aluminized mild steel painted with 2000* High Heat Flat Black that I got at Auto Zone or something.
