I will go ahead and stop this before you get attacked. The Honda Fit's version of VTEC is nothing like the traditional VTEC you are thinking of which uses different cam lobes. All the L15As "VTEC" does is during normal driving, only 2 of the 4 valves are being used, once a certain RPM is reach all 4 valves kick in. I am assuming this is used to create better gas mileage.

How can that be right? I thought the L15 used a new system that used 2 valves until a certain RPM and then kicked in all 4 valves above that RPM? What you said sounded like the conventional VTEC.

Question

According to Wong over at Temple of VTEC Asia - it's not a 2 / 4 valve VTEC but a 3/4 valve with an additional intake valve only opening ...

http://asia.vtec.net/Series/FitJazz/lseries/index.html
"The VTEC mechanism on the L15A VTEC is that of a 1-valve/2-valve system for the intake side only. The exhaust side always functions as a 2-valve system. So the L15A VTEC is a 12valve/16valve system."

Actually the Vtec controller will work on the fit and it will work just like it does on any of the other Vtec cars. Check page 35 on the New AFC NEO for the wiring diagram for the gd3.

Has anyone acutally hooked one up to try it? Insted of arguing about it lets hear if it works or not.

vtec controllers are NOT a good idea. i've tried them on several cars including my own. after dyno tuning, it looks good on the dyno with ~10hp increase, but the car runs very odd. cylinders misfire due to weather changes, which those AFC's dont have-temperature compensation. also, they cant tune cam angles and ignition advance.

it will work as in the displaying and hooking up wires, but as for the tuning aspect, its just plain SHIT. i got rid of it on ebay, got hondata kpro. best shit ever.

i have close ties with Hondata. they've already checked out the Fit's ecu and stock fuel maps. they've determined that it was already WELL TUNED from the factory and any attempt of them trying to make it better would not be worth the money.

the only time u'll need to worry about EMS's is when u boost. so dont bother with it if u're n/a.
