Best filtering "high flow" filter?

I realize there are more than a few companies producing performance airfilters.

We can get foam, paper, oiled and un oiled cotton gauze.

But have we ever figured out which is the best for filtering and flowing?

I've seen some promising tests from certain foam filters but not such great stuff from others. Seems some foam filters have a variable cell density where it's denser at the core and looser towards the outer layer.

I have a oiled cotton gauze style filter now but it's starting to look a bit..well ratty.

I suppose the factory panel paper filter supposedly does the best at filtering but has a terrible flow rate.

And while oiled cotton gauze filters are quite free flowing they tend to let quite a lot of dirt (along with the same oil that's designed to catch the dirt) into the engine.

I just need a new filter for my intake and I am trying to figure out what is the best option...

I've been doing a bit of searching but only coming up with a lot of hearsay.

I've linked to a forum that tested a Perrin filter (one I've got pretty high on my list of considerations)

And a Supra forum that had an article testing filters.

Thoughts?

I've heard good things about AEM Dry Flow! Personately, I have a K&N Precharger on a Fujita filter that came with my SRI. The prefilter blocks a lot of dirt!

Marko!!

The precharger is the nylon/silk baggy that covers the element right?
I've been looking at those as well....I think that sounds like an interesting idea too.
