You can. Try it... |
It's too cold at the moment, but I've been under there enough times with ramps to know that even with an extra 10 inches it's cramped to get in there with a wrench and go back and forth a bunch of times. I'm sure it's possible to squeeze yourself in there but I can't imagine it being a pleasant experience.
yeah i would definately just recommend just jacking the car up. sure it takes an extra 5 minutes or so but wouldnt you rather have that then be super cramped and uncomfortable underneat the car
maybe that is an insentive to lose weight so you can work on your car in comfort. :D
you guys are talking like its surgery, lol...its a muffler, 2 bolts. youre not even down there long enough to get uncomfortable.
im skinny and tall so i have no trouble performing surgery on my car. :D
idk man, i'm 6'2" and 170 on a bad day, maybe my arms are just too long but it's not very comfortable down there. The only benefit I could see is that my arms are long enough that I might be able to rest my elbow on the floor so my arm doesn't get cramped trying to keep it suspended lol.

i'm selling my WSII exhaust so i'm currently running muffler-less...... no offense to anyone else but i don't like what i'm hearing :(
i've only got a modified stock airbox with K&N high flow filter and a header - it's LOUD. the decibel app i have on my iPhone reads 108db at 3k rpm. to make matters worse i feel a definite drop in power. it's like i'm driving a stock Fit with lots of noise... i'm going to have to find a replacement exhaust ASAP |
why are you selling the exhaust?
Take it to a muffler shop with the stock or after market axle back pipe and muffler and have them bend and weld up an axle back pipe and glass back with an exhaust tip of your choice..... Just a pipe minus muffler exiting behind the bumper will be quieter inside the car. A glass pack lowers the tone to a softer rumble than an after market fart can. The noise is pleasant to me and about equal to the road noise from the tires and wheels at highway speeds, but with the throttle down at higher revs it sounds like an Austin Healey 100 4, except not as droning higher speeds ..... No power loss that I can notice any where in the power band, and my neighbor who is a light sleeper who keeps his windows open says that I have never awakened him, even when his windows are open.... What I like the most, it was cheap. I have been driving with this set up since August 2006.

BUT after reading your description it sounds like it may be a different experience altogether. would you happen to have any sound clips? how much did it cost? a ball park figure would be nice incase i decide to go this route :D |
I can't remember exactly but I took in the tip that I bought out of a J.C.Whitney catalogue and the 2 1/2" pipe and 12" generic muffler + labour was around $80.00. There is a guy on YouTube that went the same route but used an Auto Zone muffler and tip and his sounds a lot like mine.I'll try to find it on you tube. " 2007 Honda Fit with cheap weld on muffler". Actually after listening to the YouTube muffler, I think it sounds raspy . You mentioned Cherry Bombs, They came out when I was a teenager and were popular because the were louder than Smitty's which were pretty loud. There is room for a longer muffler than what I used.

^that tip looks like Wall•E eyes :p
Today I took the muffler off of my GE and drove it around for about 30 mins. Wow it was way too loud for me, gave me a headache I took some video of it i will post a link when I get it up on youtube.
hi there... any updates ?
Tried it.... not for me. Too loud. The sound itself is perfect just about 4x as loud as I want it to be, and I don't need a ticket.
If you dont like it the dont read it. you obviously found it interesting enough to read on. I did this than set up a not so straight pipe so i have a nice dual tip comming out the center. I hat to remove that steel thing hangin ther and add some heat sheilding for saftey lol. this looks awsome and only cost me $30 cuz i welded it myself and had some pipe laying around.
