parts that could be improved
parts that could be improved
Had my Fit up on a lift the other day to test fit some new parts, and saw a few things that got me thinking:

That is the tie-rod of the steering. It looks wimpy, even for a small car like the Fit.

Even more wimpy looking is this front sway bar link... I guess it's made of something strong, but it sure doesn't look it.
Aftermarket solutions should beef up these shortcomings in the Fit. What do you guys think?

as they say, size isn't everything
the tie rod end is about the same size as most hondas
the sway bar link, it's even bigger than my 99 accord's sway bar link and that one was off a Acura TL Type S, both of which are a LOT bigger than the Fit
not sure why you would want to "beef up" these parts

I've seen problems with running really big bars--usually torn mounting points. Ugh! (Friend built a BMW race car with big sway bars etc and among other problems he had oil starvation issues in corners. Had to get an Accusump. Torn mounting points, hard on the unibody!)
The size of these parts is probably in line with the weight of the car. Most of us are used to looking at these parts on biger cars and especially cars with suspension systems from the 'parts bin' designed to work on other types of cars.
...Was it F. Porche or C. Chapman who felt that sway bars were a crutch for a badly designed suspension?

if you want to beef up something on the sway bar, try to find universal poly urethane brushing swaybar mounts...thats what a few people have done to the aveo to reduce bodyroll which helps with speed in cornering....summitracing.com has alot of universal ones

But wouldn't it be possible to make a front sway bar without those links, just a continuation of the bar all the way up? Or do the links serve a purpose that I'm not seeing in the pictures? Do the ends of the links pivot during suspension travel?

I don't think the Fit rolls too much though.

Are these parts too flimsy?
