Help only 3psi of boost?

Guys/ gals I'm new to the Fit Freak Forum,
As you can see by my user name I drive a Crz, please before you turn away, I desperately need some help with a Turbo kit that I recently installed.
Since our cars share a very similar engine platform L15, perhaps some of the turbo guys can help out.
Basically I'm all on my on Crz forum, Everyone seems to have gone the super charger route.

Anyways, I have a genuine Top Secret turbo kit installed which is somewhat functioning, however my AEM digital boost gauge is only reading a 3psi under wide open throttle.

The turbo should be making 5.5lbs of boost.
The turbo sounds healthy, and a large flutter sounds is noticed when on then off throttle.
Turbo is a TD-04 with internal waste gate.

I thought maybe my cat was clogged, so after removing the exhaust I still only hit 4 psi and only for a split second.

If I ramp up the throttle slowly the gauge just reads vac or 0 psi.

I have my boost gauge Tee on the pcv line on the front of the engine that goes from the block to the head, where are you guys teeing in your gauges?
Do I need a check valve?

Also are there any Greedy e manage experts on this forum

Although boost gauge only read 3 psi, The car rips pretty good, the low end torque of the IMA gets the car moving and then the boost comes on really quick. I just need to know why I'm not seeing 5.5psi

Thank you kindly

Conrad

I would tee in the boost gauge off the manifold going to the brake booster.

From you description it sounds like you have a boost leak. pressurize your intercooler piping to see if there is any leaks.

Then check to see if there is any leak from the blow off valve.

then check to see if there is an exhaust leak between the head and the turbo manifold and between the turbo.

all those would not let you see full boost.

^ I agree. Also check the manifolds for cracks.
