Question throttle water by-pass

Can anybody show instructions on how to do the by-pass, and the beneficts of it (if any)?

Is just that I don't think that I need hot water running there here in hot tropic year long hot weather in Puerto Rico.....

Dont bother, if its anything like the stiok civic TB then it already has a solenoid to shut it off when the car is warm. This was all the rage with 7th gen civics till somebody noticed that honda beat them to it.

Carlos it's very easy to do ..... look at the back of the TB (toward the firewall) there are two small water hoses going into the TB. Just use a pair of pliers and take the clamps off. Then pull off the two hoses and put a 1/8 inch pipe nipple into both hoses and reinstall both clamps done. I don't know about the rest of the world but the Thai built ones do not have a shutoff solenoid. The benefits are a cooler TB and you should have no problems as it's nice and warm in PR and you don't have to worry about freezing the TB. I have done this on mine and 10,000 km later no problems.

TB Coolant bypass

Engine L13A, did this sometime ago. No noticeable effect for me.

Engine Bay
Take out these nuts

Gotta loosen this nut

These are the coolant pipes going into the TB

Here's the brass connector, bought the wrong bloody size twice

Attached one side (BTW, what did the coolant run thru previously? It's like some kind of plastic covered thing)

Done!!

join up both hoses to the brass tube, sorry. I accidentally trashed the pic.

Verdict
Easy to do. No noticeable effect (damn).

Those that drive in harsh winter conditions may actuall not want to do this...from what I gather, the reason they route coolant is to prevent icing of the TB ? This is mostly an issue with carbs, especially in aircraft...for us HP geeks, we're taught to think 'less heat...less heat!', but there are occasions where some heat is beneficial. With the carb, there is a pressure changes across the venturi which contributes to icing...I'm not sure it is that big of issue w/ a TB, but you never know. Like you said, it doesn't give you any change. But kudos for the effort & the writeup!

that's true. Here, the temp never goes below 26degC. We get hypothermia at 25.

I noticed that the Fit warms up real quickly. I havent had very many new cars, but would the coolant bypass the tb just to warm up the car when it's cold faster. That was my theory, and I am not sure if its true, but I have never had a car that warmed up so quickly and had a coolant bypass to the tb.

Our TB's look nothing like that. Well, similar but our coolant in/out lines are in the front.

sy11580's Engine Bay. NOT MINE

See the brass tubing between the intake and valve cover. Those rubber lines leading to it is the coolant lines.
Remove and plug that line, I used a bolt and a NEW worm clamp. The oem will not tighten enough.

My engine bay. Notice no brass tubing, used the supplied silicone tube from valve cover to my intake.
Also notice on the TB theres a open tube. Those are the coolant circulation. The one not pictured is the one near the back. Just plug that one the same way as the front one.

I did it for cleanliness. I dont think it did anything. Either way my intake pipe gets death hot once the fans kick off and in. I burned the shipwreck out of my hand one day.

Once Honda sees nothing going to the TB they wont warranty anything related to the TB. They may try and blame problems on that like they did to me. Just prove them wrong and say its been removed since the first 500miles.
Car WILL NOT throw a code or have ill effects.

the fujita CAI kit REQUIRES you to bypass the TB coolant line. it didn't take very long to do and was the easiest part of the install. however, i will say to watch out because the coolant WILL empty out once you disconnect those hose lines.

If you buy the parts on your own at a parts or hardware store, also buy rubber vacuum caps to cover the open fitting. If you buy the inexpensive kit on eBay, the vac. caps are supplied. For CA drivers, you will eventually have to restore the stock configuration of the TB when you get your Smog tests done. A few minute's work, get the test, then put it back to bypass again.

glad i found this...didnt realize the fit had a hot water tb..
i have delt with rangers and was on ranger sites where guys did this didnt see any huge results but it keeps your tb cooler which may help with tiny hp increase but removes that heat mostly...
