MR with pinstripes...

So I was looking at the car today...taking the pinstripes off since it is only 6 days old, there shouldn't be a disoloration. But I think that the pinstrips have a clearcoat on them. Anyone else take their pins off? I don't want to start peeling and the whole clearcoat comes off.

I think the best way to take these off is take a blow dryer to it... of course dont hold over one spot that long.. but enough so that its easy to pull right off.. then wipe it down, clean it, and wax.

could be an issue if they were painted on. if they were, you can take your car to a reputable detailer and they have this fancy gadget that removes them. kind of like a powered eraser

Yeah...they are for sure painted...which is goofy. I went to a non-visible spot on the car and tried to peel off, it just came outt like paint. Almost flaking. I will take it to a body shop...I hate having pin stripes...especially that the dealer or Honda put them on there.

The car still had to the protective stuff on it when I picked it up so I think Honda did it...Don't know why.

You sure? Sounds like the dealer did it and might've put on the "paint protection" they always try to get people to buy. Essentially, Scotch Guard. There's a Saturn dealer here who puts pinstriping on even before they prep the car. Crazy. And what sucks is, they put it on EVERYTHING. Fortunately, they haven't touched the two Sky's yet. But they've forced accessories on them.

When I saw the car, it was on the fourth floor. It had to clear goo all over the hood, roof, bumper, and door handles. 5 hours later when the deal was done and I was driving off, the car was cleaned up and they couldn't have pu pins on it that quick...This was the last one of their shipment of 4 that came in the day before...So it had to have come from Honda like that. I dunno...They are there for good it looks. No peeling...just flaking if I take my fingernail to it.

If my car would of had pin stripes on it I wouldn't have bought it. Pin strips only look good on older cars. On the fit I don't see it looking good.

Well this Fit was the only one on the lot...and I wanted it. Just didn't notice the pinstripes before. I will take it to a body shop soon and get them yanked off.
