anyone installed a map light?

ok so i was looking around and i was thinking about getting a map light has anyone done this on there fits? if so any DIY or pics ?

I didn't do a DIY because it really isn't simple. The cutout is a very odd shape and I had to fabricate my own mounting hardware.

There is another thread discussing a rectangular Honda map light that essentially pushes into place. That one has no DIY either but would be a whole lot easier to figure out on your own.

I have a maplight unit waiting in my garage to be installed. I read somewhere that a small strip of 1x6 with double sided tape fits perfectly between the roof and the map lights.

dam some of you guys need to come and help me out id be scared to do this just like im scared to crack open my lights. none of the DIY's say where exactly to cut the head liner i mean yea i see the pic but like how many inches from the plate for the mirror? stuff like that.

it's up to you where you want to place the maplight so use your imagination.
but don't dig too far cause you'll scrape the roof with your blade. lol

I made a template out of light cardboard and moved it around until I found the place I wanted. Then I taped it down, pulled out the knife, and started cutting...

...after I thought about it for a minute or two.

Yeah, it's nerve-wracking. But if you do the measure twice / cut once thing, and you know it's what you want and where you want it, there's really no choice but to stab that sucker.
