Rear Diffuser!

Not sure if this is the right place but here goes:
I was thinking of making a rear diffusor for the fit after seeing some teggys and civics with them on HT. Now, I have no experience with custom fabbing stuff but I'm interested to see what ideas any of you guys have. I'm sure some of you gas mileage freaks would want to see this done as it is proven to improve your mpg's on the highway. I guess I'm just looking for input or a how-to or any ideas from people that know more about them. Seems like it would be a fun project to say the least.

Here is an example on plusonerandy's old eg hatch from honda-tech:

You don't need a rear diffuser for street use. It'll just be a waste of money. Unless you're just going to get one for looks.

But I read something along the lines that it really helps with highways speeds and I do spend alot of time on the interstate

You won't feel the benefit of the diffuser unless you're going past 100MPH. And I don't think you cruise past 100MPH on the highway. At least I hope you don't. Trust me man... I wouldn't bother wasting the money for something that won't even work.

Ahh, ok. I didn't realize it was pretty much only for high speed applications. I just have been wanting something to do, I am at school in raleigh where there are no mountains=no touge or fun driving, so I've been sitting around looking for something car related to do haha. Thanks though!

You're welcome man. Just trying to save you from doing something that you might regret later on. Are there no tracks in your area?

Nope. Closest one is Virginia International Raceway, and it is very expensive. I'll wait till xmas break to get my touge fix, then till autox season I guess.

fabbing up an aluminium rear diffuser that goes just in the middle like on the is not that hard and would not be too expensive but would it improve any air flow?
i wish back yard special made a wing like that for the fit. i love it.

Me to, if the made a spoiler like that for the Fit I would definitely get one. Im tempted to get the JDM rear bumper just so I can get the Nobbless rear diffuser
