If I remove them now...

So, I want to remove the pinstripe stickers around my 07 fit but I'm worried that there might be a very visible shadow afterwards. Anyone have some experience taking them off after they've baked for 4 years? They are all cracking and almost black. I have Goo Gone, I don't think it'll damage the paint, just more worries about an ugly shadow. Any advice or input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am sad to say that you're definitely going to have ghosting...I have a "EU country sticker" on my hatch that I've had on it since 2006. It's started to fade..and the painted under it is definitely darker than the surrounding....So I'm just gonna plop a new sticker over it.

I'm not sure you can really do anything about it. It's not like wetsanding/waxing will make a difference. on the plus side though.

Since the pinstripes tend to follow a body curve it may be really hard to notice the tone variation. And that's a plus.

Remove them anyway. It will be like ghost flames, but will look better than cracked stripes.

Use an eraser wheel on a drill. The pin stripe removal will go way faster.
