My 2008 Honda Fit Sport with 190K miles on it won't do into gear consistently. I can, however, put the car into gear once the engine is off. The clutch does not slip at all. Once I turn the car on and get it moving, the vehicle will shift normally after 15 minutes or so. When I try to put into gear or chance gears when it is acting up, the car makes a grinding sound. I live in the Arlington, VA area and also need a recommendation on a reasonable shop near me to look the car over and repair it. Thank you.

 

The clutch isn't releasing as it should. The hydraulic clutch may need to be bled (easy), but if that's not the issue then it'll need a new clutch.
