Well made my way over here from the FB group. Reading allot on the Fit and thought I would introduce myself.
Name is Jedz, I don't drive too much big motorcycle maniac my shanagins can be found over at Jedz Moto. I put maybe 5-10K miles on my cage a year where I put over 30K miles on my motorcycles.
Anyway I traded in my truck and purchased a 2015 Honda Fit LX although in my mind she's an LS... I purchased it from my local Honda dealer here in Southern Vermont. 6-Speed manual. I have already swapped out some bits to remind me it's not a hybrid. It will be my primary back and forth once the snow flies.
Rims are landing today, Have some 15X6 +35mm offsets in gold coming in. I have Michelin IceXi3's in a 165 50 15 I will be mounting on the new rims (yes I mount and balance all my own tires). The car will be lucky to do 1000 miles from now till Late November as I ride my motorcycles right until the snow starts.
I'm a big gear head and have done anything and everything on cars and motorcycles, including engine and transmission rebuilds. I have my own shop, do my own work and bought the Honda knowing I wouldn't really need to do work :P. The price I paid for the car was sub $8K I know the 15's have a "blemish" to them but for the price I couldn't say no. Car has 50K miles.
I owned a 2008 Toyota Yaris for 8 years and put 80K miles on it before selling it. It was the best car I have ever owned and wanted something similar. The Fit by far is the better car at first glance, more power 6speed vs 5speed, cruise, abs, traction, etc... Fuel economy and power is also better. Very impressed with the little 1.5L GDI power-plant. Time will tell how the Honda stacks up to the ole' Yoda.
Yaris:
So I plan on towing a small utility trailer with my fi, I have a trailer hitch coming in. Biggest load will be one of my motorcycles and some track or replacement parts. Do plan to take some big road trips with my MC and use the Fit as my mobile shop. Although I have done some upgrades to my fit it's all about adding to the fun factor and not chase High HP or speed... I have motorcycles for that...
My Bikes are the essence of my being. I have a few but my 2 favorites are my 2009 Yamaha VMAX 1700 which put 190WHP last Dyno run:
Engine is a Quad Cam 16 Valve, V-4 displacing 1.7 Liter or 1698cc or in Harley terms 102ci.
And My 2018 Triumph Bonneville (mountain sleeper) that has 70K miles... 82Whp last dyno run:Engine is a Inline 2 cylinder, SOHC 8 valve with a Cross plane crank, offering Subaru like thump. 1.2 Liter or 1200cc or in Harley terms 73ci
So the spare capital goes to these little monsters. The Fit is just the cage.
I have been enjoying reading up on the car and you folks have been a great resource as of recent!
I hope I can get to the point to contribute to the community... Time to get some time and miles on my GK!
Thanks for having me.
Best,
-Jedz
