New Fit Owner here ...
New Fit Owner here ...
Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself. Just bought a 2009 Fit Base Model with 124,000 miles. I went from a 99 Civic. Just got my first surprise when I discovered where the spark plugs are, no more easy access like the Civic! .. but I love the car so far. I'm sure I am in the right place for all the question I will have in the future.
Hey Joe,
I am a new owner here as well. Yea, spark plug location kind of sucks, but it is not hard to take apart, just alot of simple stuff. I saw some good videos and write ups. I'm not sure if I am going to do them myself; I'm not confident in my ability to do a valve adjustment, so if I'm having that done I might as well have them do the spark plugs while they are in there. The spark plugs on my 06 Civic were so simple, too. The Fit is still worth it in my opinion, especially since spark plugs last around 100k miles.

Welcome to you both.
We have an '09 and just bought a '20.
We have 254K miles on the '09, a base model. As I said in a recent post, beyond "ordinary and timely maintenance, only issues have been failed cat (at c.200K miles, and not replaced) and R&R clutch at c.240K miles. Not bad at all." We had similar experiences with our '93 Accord and '99 Civic. We are keeping the '09 for VDOT brine days!
I do most of the maintenance on my motocycle harem, but leave car work to high-end local folks. In our case, Winchester Foreign & Domestic Auto has been extraordinarily responsive, and, after a "first service" check-in at the local Honda dealer, we are inclined to take our new one to WFDA, too. That's a bit out of the way for you, but we have had great luck with local auto-repair folks over the years. You can often tell lots about a place when you walk in, but one service should tell the tale.
Best wishes for miles of smiles with your Fits.
