2007 Fit making a ticking noise when accelerating
I just got a 2007 honda fit from a dealership about a week ago. I drove it on the highway for the first time today and it started making this weird inconsistent ticking noise whenever I accelerated. It was like "tick....ticktick....tick..thicktick..". Any idea as to what this might be? Could just be a small stone stuck somewhere but I find it weird that it only happened when I'm accelerating.
Hey dude, we might be able to help you out if you give us more then an an inconsistent ticking on acceleration. That's way too general a description. I know you've got a good idea of what you're hearing in your head, but if you want to get help from people on the forum you're gonna need to convey whats going on a bit better. If it sounds really bad bring it in before you damage something or injure yourself, safety #1 priority. If you want to try tackling the problem on your own, with the help of people here, might I suggest recording a solid video for starters?
Here's some things to help narrow it down. Does it increase with engine RPM or does it increase with your speed? Can you locate the specific area that the ticking is coming from, front, rear, left or right? Is it metallic? Does it go away when its warmed up?
If its linked to the RPM then it's probably something engine related. If it's linked to your speed it's probably something drivetrain or tire related, or even just stones in the tread like you mentioned. We need more to go on.
Unfortunately without these details we can't do much to help you. Hope you figure it out one way or another tho!
