Door panel

Hi, there was a small damage to my driver door and after repairing n re-spraying it the door color is lighter than the rest of the car, the color matching and correct code was used. I used a different person n re-spray again and its the results. My door is lighter. Any suggestions

Hey, sorry to hear about the damage. I don’t know much about painting but a coworker who used to be a booth sprayer in another life used to talk to me about painting. Apparently even with the same paint, the way it’s applied can change how it looks, especially with flake colours that aren’t flat, as the particles can sit differently as the layers are applied. I know from when I had an older car repaired, they have to “fade in” the new colour on the panels adjacent to the one being repaired because no paint matches perfectly after the factory. Again this is more necessary for non-flat colours.

Then there’s the issue of inconsistent fading, which is especially true for colours like the 1st gen GD reds. I’m sorry to hear, but unless they are able to fade the paint I think you’ll always have a slight difference.
