Honda FIT 2020 Major Incident on 5/31/2021
I’m a Registered Nurse who has 35+ years experience in ER, Trauma, & Critical Care. This makes me a very mechanical intelligent person. I worked night shift in the ER in CHICAGO when no mechanical or IT staff there. We troubleshooted very complicated machines successfully cos you have to be mechanically inclined to do this job!
I owned 9 homes & by using my own power tools & other nurses; was able renovate & sell my homes within weeks for a fair profit. My last home that I owned, I profited $100,000 & sold in a week. I know a lot about cars, sports cars, SUVs & minivans. I’ve provided these details so you see that I’m not your average woman, so that when you read what happened on 5/31/2021(3 days ago); you will not blow me off! I have always taken my vehicles to certified mechanics for upkeep & repairs who have also shown me per my request, what I can do & what they have to do, as I’m not a certified mechanic but a highly practical, feminine, intelligent woman.
Now my horrific Honda FIT Incident on 5/31/2020 (which surprisingly I lived through)!
I lease this car through a Honda dealer. Purchased in July 2020 & haven’t driven it any great distances. Had a sports car before this so the FIT was a poor excuse of a vehicle but I didn’t expect it to perform like my much loved sports car. But I did expect the vehicle to function properly. It did if I had ECON on but was all over the road in drive. I’m a busy person & knew dealership was dishonest about vehicle but had already signed lease. First time & last time I will ever lease from Honda.
I had a scheduled appt for several poorly functional problems & maintenance check scheduled for tomorrow. Me & car never got that far. On said date, I was driving around doing errands & put the ECON on, as it was all over the road again. Parked in front of a CVS PHARMACY, facing the it. My car suddenly accelerated, jerked over the sidewalk curb into the solid brick & large glass window store. I break with my left foot but the car went faster to my horror! My FIT & me stopped when the car was 3/4’s in the pharmacy with me still having my foot all the way down on the brakes. What saved my life was the insulation from the building came down thru the windshield, surrounding me. The airbags NEVER deployed.
As I’ve been researching the cause while I’m healing; I came across “paddle shifters”. Started researching & recognized immediately they had failed, along with the brakes & airbags! Even a seasoned RN like me thought I was taking my last breath.
I know this is long but after reading All the Shocking, life threatening incidents members here have experienced; I was compelled to join the forum and get y’all’s feedback re: this harrowing experience of mine. Hope some of you stayed with me. I know my time isn’t up here on Earth or I wouldn’t be writing this presently. I must be blessed somehow.
Warmly,
Sharon

Slim chance but I'm calling BS and questioning either driver error or if an object was jammed against or between the accelerator and brake pedal assemblies.
Honda implemented a system in the Fit for the 2009MY that disables any current (or following) throttle input so long as it sees wheel speed and a brake pedal input. That tech is still present to this day in current models.
With that said and Econ active, the throttle response is dulled/slowed and the transmission variation points (CVT version of 'shifting') are longer which is much like being in a higher gear. Following that, the car isn't very peppy from a stop or low speeds to begin with to be quite honest especially when equipped with the CVT transmission (which is also the only way you can get Econ in these).
